We chose the  Kawasaki KLR 650.  There are so many reasons for choosing this particular bike.   We bought two KLR 650's.  Having the exact machines is definitely the way to go.  It just makes sense to ride the same bike when travelling together.

The next task was to decide on how to set them up for  world travel.  We started to research the internet to see what is available for the KLR.  Silly question.  There is everything available for the KLR.  You name it, it's out there for the bike.   We purchased panier's, top boxes, nerf bars, fork braces, skid pans and center stands from Happy Trails out of Boise Idaho.   A friend we met (Dick Fish) at one of Horizons Unlimited's rallies in Revelstoke assisted us with upgrading the main frame bolts as well as changing the "do hickey". Dick also suggested that we change out the shocks and fork springs so that the bikes would be very capable of travelling through some of the rough terrain that we will be seeing in the third world countries.  We also changed the seats to Corbin, I'm most greatful for this change... as Kawasaki didn't put the most comfortable seat on the bike.

Kelly has done all of the wiring for the electric vest, heated grips and the communication system.

As we progress in building this site, we will post a few more photos of the bikes..

AND we will show you just how great they are going to look!!
